Bi-Directional Sharing of Data

The national networks - CommonWell, Carequality, and eHealthExchange - are formalizing into federally mandated Qualified Health Information Networks under TEFCA.

This marks an exciting step forward in creating a robust and interconnected ecosystem for data exchange across EMRs, labs, HIEs, payors, government entities, and the digital health hector.

A key element of this initiative is ensuring reciprocity in the sharing and retrieval of information for all involved actors. The sustainability of these networks depends on organizations not only accessing data but also contributing to the exchange. As these networks formalize and expand upon their foundational infrastructure, it will become increasingly critical to ensure that all participants are fully engaged and actively contributing to the system.
