Particle's connection to Surescripts enables us to integrate robust medication data with clinical data, significantly enhancing the value of our dataset, and creating a more comprehensive and actionable view of a patient's health. This partnership gives Particle’s customers access to pharmacy fill and claims based patient medication history data that covers 99% of U.S. pharmacies and 96% of U.S. patients.

Particle can access a patient’s 12 month medication history, which is refreshed every time that patient is queried.

For example, combining prescription fill data with lab results or imaging findings can help identify whether a prescribed therapy is effective or if adjustments are needed. Similarly, understanding medication adherence alongside clinical notes or health conditions can reveal gaps in care, highlight potential risks such as adverse drug interactions, and support more personalized treatment strategies.

This synergy between medication and clinical data not only improves patient safety and outcomes but also empowers providers to make data-driven decisions, optimize care plans, and enhance overall care coordination. By providing a fuller picture of patient health, we are driving more proactive, precise, and impactful interventions in healthcare delivery.

Medication Fills Notifications

Particle can send a webhook notification when Surescripts fill data for a query is ready. The notification is sent once the fills are available through the Flat API. It has the type com.particlehealth.api.v2.medicationfills and the subject Medication Fills Data Available. To receive it, create a notification with notification_type: "medicationfills" via the Management API. Medication fills require a Surescripts license and a query with a purpose_of_use of TREATMENT.
